Hi Rachel,

Actually, while I did live in Charlotte for 7 years, I'm originally from Minnesota. North Carolina was a lovely place to live, though.

I would certainly try to schedule a session with Nancy Wolfson or Pat Fraley. I have studied with a few other coaches as well, but most of them only work with established voiceover talent.

Give some thought to buying a copy of "The Art of Voice Acting" by James Alburger. It's a very good introduction.

My best to you as you pursue this wonderful work. Please let me know how it goes for you.

Be well,
Bob Souer

Hello Bob,

I noticed you are from North Carolina--so am I! Tar Heel born and bred. I am a senior musical theatre major at the University of Michigan and have recently developed a strong interest in pursuing voiceover work. I know it's a tight business that's hard to break into, but I want to try.

I'm going to LA for spring break (next week) and was wondering if you had any tips on what I should do while I was out there. I am hoping to schedule a coaching with someone well-versed in voiceovers...hopefully Nancy Wolfson, or maybe Pat Fraley. Have you worked with anyone else?

My apologies for my general questions--I'm just now getting into researching this field, and I'm learning more every day.

Sincerely,

Rachel

Kara,

I'm not surprised, but I am delighted to know you enjoyed your time with Nancy. And as you can tell, I have lots of nice things to say about her (and you!), too.

Be well,
Bob

Bob,

I had my first session with Nancy today! You are correct, she gives useful information you can begin using right away. She was able to describe an acting technique to me that I had not grasped in 11 years of doing this, but will now become a major part of my VO 'closet of knowledge'!

Oh- and she also had VERY nice things to say about you! :)
