MXL has a new tool coming out soon that just might be the perfect thing for your travel pack. They’re calling it the MXL USB Mic Mate, which supplies 48v phantom power to your analog condenser microphone on one end and connects to one of your computer’s USB ports on the other. Perhaps best of all, the list price is expect to be only $79.99.

Like you, I travel a bit and I was looking for a good mic and based on so many journals and references, I got a Rode Podcaster on spec.
Lousy modulation with little way to improve it and back it went.
I’d make sure this “sweet little unit” can really perform before talking it up. Take it from one who learned the hard way…I talked up the Rode in a presentation to a room full of podcasters.
