Rowell Gormon might just one of the most talented people I know. The funny thing is, he’s the only person who doesn’t know just how brilliant he is at virtually everything to which he puts his hand. Exhibit A: A brilliant bit of writing on his blog about the parallels between Jazz music and voiceover demos. Even if you never click a link in one of my posts, take the time to click through on this one. You won’t be sorry.
(Update: The above link now points to Rowell’s resurrected blog post that was lost for months, but is now found and available again.)

thanks for the (extremely) kind words, bob. the check is in the mail.
seriously, i figured it’d be months before anyone would discover, let alone actually read anything i set down on this “blog” project.
but starting off with a glowing recommendation from a respected talent such as yourself feels like landing a part in a big movie right after graduating drama school!
at the risk of doing an “eeyore”…thanks for noticing me.

Pat,
Rowell is having some web server issues this morning. Try again in a few days and it should pop right up.
Oh, and thanks for stopping by. My best to you in this New Year.
Be well,
Bob

apologies to anyone who has tried to link to the ‘jazz’ piece during the past four weeks.
“server issues” doesn’t begin to cover it.
my 2006 website host (an outfit i do NOT recommend anymore) proved so inefficient and so unreachable i had to bail and start over with a new host.
unfortunately my whole weblog setup was scuttled and lost in the transfer.
i have found a saved copy of the first post in my documents file. the most recent, a Christmas story, i was able to retrieve only because friend Doc Phillips was nice enough to ask if he could reprint it on his own ‘blog. i’ve copied and saved that one, and will re-post both soon. maestro bob has graciously offered to help me start over.
as for the “all that jazz”…i’ve had no luck finding any trace of it so far. it’s a shame, too, because it was the one i had most comments on.
so if anyone knows anyone who might have copied it and saved it away somewhere, i’d appreciate knowing about it.
