The late Mike Hurley, a legendary voice actor in the UK, is featured in this video that I discovered thanks to my friend James Lorenz and his fine More Than Voiceover blog.
What a remarkable talent, so sad that’s he’s gone at such a relatively young age.
(updated to reflect changed location of video, thank you Alan Bainbridge!)
James Lorenz says
Definite loss to the community and at such a young age. Great to have some clips to remember him by.

Thank you for posting this, Bob. It’s always great to see the word spreading across the internet about the passing of such a legend. Mike lived in North Yorkshire and was only a 5 minute drive away from where I live. I thought it would be very fitting to upload this video to Youtube, so everyone can see the life and inside story of such a wonderful voice over artist.

Kris,
Thank you. I am very glad you uploaded them to YouTube.
Be well,
Bob
Nina Ketel (Hurley) says
Hi Bob, I’ve just found this site. I’m Mike’s daughter, just wondered how come it’s now been stopped?
Lovley to read what people have to say.
Michael and I miss him so much too, even more as Christmas gets nearer.
Kind regeards,
Nina

Nina,
I’m not sure why the videos were pulled from YouTube. If you find that they are still available there, in some form or fashion, please let me know and I will update the links here.
Thank you for stopping by. Your dad was obviously a wonderful man. I’m sorry I never got the chance to know him.
Be well,
Bob

Hi Bob – just noticed this post, so apologies for the delay in my reply.
The Mike Hurley documentary is still available here:- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8860491330189235314
If Nina is reading this, I would like to echo the tributes given to Mike. I grew up listening to your Dad when he did the breakfast show on Pennine Radio, an excellent show – ahead of its time. Although I never met him, he was certainly an inspiration to me when I took my first steps into the voice over world and is sadly missed.
Bob says
Alan,
Thank you for the link to the video and for your wonderful comments.
Be well,
Bob

What an interesting guy Mike Hurley was,but how sad he is no longer with us. The video was really quite good, thanks for posting and showing us the face behind the familiar voice.
