Your actions always trump your words. Drew McLellan provides a very potent reminder today of just how true that is. My thanks to my manager, Stacey Stahl, for emailing me the link to this article.

How true.
Thanks for sharing this nice post on consistency and commitment as it reflects a business’s brand and/or the manner in which a person wants to be perceived.
To extend the concept, if you (or anyone reading) might find it useful, I offer this to people regularly when they ask me for advice on “How To Negotiate”…
Heck, it’s the same batch of bon mots I gave a guy last week as he was panicking mid lesson about what to do for his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day:
“Under-promise, Over-deliver.”
Bob says
Nancy,
Under promise, over deliver. Words to live by, for sure. Thank you.
Be well,
Bob
Andi Arndt says
That little maxim is why I love amazon.com…they always under-promise on their shipping times, so 98% of the time I’m happily surprised with a priority overnight delivery when I paid standard shipping. I try to over-deliver whenever possible.

Bob says
Andi,
Yes. Amazon.com is a very good example. In my experience, Buy.com often does much the same thing.
Be well,
Bob

Bob, perfecto!! Scotty on Star Trek had the same philosphy about telling the captian how long repairs would take. We forget some of these important little things from time-to-time. These posts are nice reminders.
Nicely done,
Greg
Bob says
Greg,
Yes, indeed. Amazing what you can learn from watching Star Trek.
Be well,
Bob

Pardon me while I have a Wilford Brimley moment…
As a semi-old guy I am encouraged to see the “old values” coming back around.
When I was young, the value of your Brand were sort of inferred because most people had been raised with these ideas of “You’re as good as your word”, “Say what you mean and mean what you say”, “If you say you’re going to do something, do it”, or to take it back to the Biblical mandate, “If a man asks you to go a mile, go with him 2 miles”
These days, none of us have time to waste (as Nancy pointed out recently..Thank you very much!)
and it is more important than ever to give the customer more than they asked for.
Thanks to all who posted here and for the few moments you just spent reading this…NOW GET TO WORK! ‘-)

DC,
Yes sir! Seriously, thank you for adding to the conversation today. I agree that much has changed. Not all of it for the worse, but not all of it for the better, either.
Be well,
Bob
