How often do you take a few minutes to think about what you’re grateful for? I try to do this every day, though some days I spend much less time doing so than others. It’s startling what a difference even a few minutes of gratitude can make in your day. Your week. Your year.
For a cogent and thoughtful discussion about how to really say “thank you” in a powerful way, take few minutes to read through my friend Peter O’Connell’s blog post Saying Thanks? Write It Down!
Kevin Delaney says
One of my major principles is: Never pass up the *opportunity* to THANK somebody!
When you take a moment to express appreciation, you break out of your own little world. You demonstrate that you’re a “trader,” not a “taker.”
An additional thought: Whenever possible, make your thanks specific. Don’t just say, “I like what you said.” Tell the person what you liked, and how it has benefitted you.
As an actor, voice talent, workshop leader and blog author, I greatly enjoy getting feedback. Thank you, Bob, for all your excellent work, and your great generosity in sharing ideas! Reading your blog posts has given me much good food for thought in my own life and career.
Best,
