Ever run into a word in a voiceover script and not know how to pronounce it? With my thanks to my friend Stefania, who posted the link to this site on the VO-BB, here is a site called howjsay.com.

That’s gold, Bob! Thanks!
Bob says
Dave,
You’re welcome. The one caution is that some of the pronunciations are British rather than US standard.
Be well,
Bob

Bob, I wasn’t aware of this site. I have used the Webster’s site plenty of times, but look forward to utilizing this as well…thanks for the tip!

Love this new resource — thanks!
We’ve been using the http://www.m-w.com for a while. We also love the hardback book “NBC Handbook of Pronunciation” done by Ehrlich & Hand. No alternates – it really shuts down a lot of arguments! 🙂

Brian and Tim,
You’re welcome and thank you for the kind comments. Tim, I really appreciate that reminder of the NBC Handbook. Good stuff.
Be well,
Bob
Dan Popp says
Bob, I’ve always used dictionary.com. It gives definitions plus the pronunciation. I probably will continue to use that, since the Brit dialect on howjsay could be confusing. But it’s nice to have options.
Bob says
Dan,
Yes, dictionary.com is a great site. I also subscribe to the full unabridged M-W.com site. But, like you, I like having options.
Be well,
Bob
