The best index to a person’s character is . . . how he treats people who can’t do him any good.

I agree completely. Character ‘begins’ when you move past the ‘what’s in it for me’ stage.
An extention of this attitude is reflected in how you answer the phone, whether at home or at work. Do you sound irritated that you’re being interrupeded or do you greet the caller warmly? Even with caller ID you can’t tell if ‘this’ call will do you any good or not. How you answer may be beneficial or it may turn out to be one more interruption in your day. Yet by being warm and friendly ALL the time when you answer will never be out of style.

Dan,
You are so right about the phone. And, as the saying goes, “You never get a second change to make a good first impression.”
Be well,
Bob
