As much as I appreciate all of Harlan’s research and testing, the inconvenience of still having to print out your script or scripts, and then risk paper shuffling in the back ground does not cut it.
Get a nice quiet MacBook Pro, build a small fort of pillows around it, as it sits on a hotel desk with a desk-stand mounted Sennheiser 416 mic plugged in. Then, start recording your VO’s as you silently scroll your script – after you press “record” on the Amadeus audio software, of course – and then allow the software to recede into the background, in favor of your WORD script which you set up for nice font size, highlighted words, etc.
I’ve done this in hotel rooms from Hawaii, NY City, Sacramento – you name it – forget printing out scripts, folks!
Charlie,
You and I do things much the same way, but I’m sure for some folks what Harlan’s prepared is a really good answer. I do agree completely about not printing scripts.
Be well,
Bob

I love Harlan, too. But I’m all about the pillows these days! 😉
