Bob, I would add this for voiceoverists: Listen to the voices and the deliveries that are popular now. When a client gives you a direction that refers to a trendy commercial, you should know what that is – and more importantly, you should understand the essence of that read and what makes it powerful.
What is it about Morgan Freeman’s delivery that makes him the standard for so many clients? If you haven’t really listened and tried to deconstruct hia read, you’re just going to do an impersonation – which is usually not the goal.
