Among the special guests at VOICE 2007 was…

General, People

Don LaFontaine! Yes, the king of the movie trailers (and GEICO commercials) was there in person. What’s more he answered questions and shook hands and demonstrated over and over again that he is an amazingly down-to-earth guy. Stephanie, over at Vox Daily, has done her usual superb job summarizing what took place. And as a bonus, you to get to see a photo of Stephanie with Don.

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for including a note about Don LaFontaine.
What an absolutely genuine man. He’s a real role model to be sure. I loved the fact that he pushed a no nonsense regiment for vocal health.
Hearing him say that professionals who take their careers in voice over seriously need to take care of their voices and abstain from smoking, heavy drinking, overuse, and other self-sabotaging habits made me giddy and excited to learn that he has such high standards for the maintenance of his own instrument.
I’m sure as a baritone, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
Thank you for linking to the posts at VOX Daily. This is truly all about community 🙂
    Take care,
    Stephanie

    Stephanie,
Thank you for your gracious comments. And yes, taking care of one’s instrument is critically important. I agree. It was wonderful to hear Don offer those words of caution and instruction.
I’m grateful to be part of a community of quality people like you, Stephanie. My best to you, David and the whole team at Voices.com.
    Be well,
    Bob
