First of all, Bob, it seems that all roads lead to you! I can’t tell you how many different websites on which I’ve spotted your name… Or how many anonymous links I’ve clicked on that have pointed me in your direction. And it’s always good stuff. Kudos to you!
Now.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Foxx a couple of years ago at a conference. As the video demonstrates, he is thoughtful about his craft and generous about sharing his tips and tricks. Much like yourself! One piece of advice in particular has stuck with me, as a writer/producer. If you are uninspired, have writers block, etc. Throw on a random piece of music. Preferably an instrumental from some genre like horror, western, comedy, romance, etc. It’s entertaining and distracting. Soon your imagination should be full of potential stories and characters that you can create a commercial or promo around. This can help you create new character voices as well.
So thanks Dave! And thank you Bob.
Dan,
Thank you for your very kind comments. And yes, a piece of music can be both distraction and inspiration. Great thought.
Be well,
Bob

Thank you for posting this ‘inside’ look at how they do it in New York City.
What was most valuable, beyond the ‘thinking’ that goes into their imaging was the management philosophy of staff members ‘owning’ their jobs and taking pride in their work.
Excellent behind the scenes peek into radio imaging. But how does he get away with smoking in the studio? In Dallas, the Corporate/City Cigarette Police wouldn’t stand for it. Just curious.

Bill,
I have no idea. I think you’ll have to write him directly and ask.
Be well,
Bob
