Adam’s conundrum

General, People

My friend Adam Creighton is facing a tough set of decisions. His way of working through the options was to make a YouTube video, which I found fascinating, so I’m sharing it with you, here.

Someone told me the safest route was also the riskiest, because without risk you don’t gain anything. This is called the status quo. This is the year I have to make peace with that notion myself. To risk my fairly comfortable life for a more creatively (spiritually?) rewarding life. The down economy doesn’t make the decision any easier, but I’ve played it safe for too long. I think your buddy should go for it! But he needs his wife’s support as well.
Thanks for sharing. Not sure how the animatic helps your friend, but it’s always nice to realize that there are other people sorting through the same issues as you are.
    Best,
    Dan

My heart goes out to Adam (and to Dan Roberts, too) as making a life changing decision is seldom easy. I would recommend reading Penny’s brief essay on VU’s “Positive Thinkers Unite.” She found it difficult to ‘let’ herself do what she had always had a ‘passion’ to do. Once she took the plunge, the rewards turned out to be better than she ever imagined!
Making a decision is NOT rolling the dice. When you put the sum total of who you are and what skills and passions you have, the choices you make will not be random occurances. They are logical steps toward a well-defined goal.
You might take a step forward and find quicksand. What to do? Prepare for quicksand by carrying a long pole. Give yourself the tools to ‘rescue’ yourself.
Indecision is much worse. Be courageous, it is ‘action’ not ‘in-action’ that will carry you forward.
Aside from that, I have no strong feelings on the subject.
