New compensation model for union talent?

General

Ad Age reports there’s a pilot test taking place that could result in a major shift in the way union talent are paid for commercials. My thanks to my manager and friend Stacey Stahl for sending the link to this article.

maybe i don’t get it, but if i were a union talent, i’d be fuming.
so now, on top of all the other obstacles, my rate would be determined by even more things outside my control: the talent of the ad writers, producers, account execs, schedulers, and the complete army of people producing the program my ad work is slotted into?
to quote the song, “if we weren’t all crazy we would go insane.”
