Scams and protection

General

John Florian emails with a note today about two articles posted recently on VoiceOverXtra that deal with the matter of scams and voiceover. The first looks at a recent scam and the policies of five online casting services in dealing with scams. The other looks at the Voice123.com and Voices.com and how each of those sites deal with detecting job scams and scammers. All of this is follow-up to an original story about a scammer who succeeded in stealing from some voice talent.

I highly recommend John’s articles. Too often we read news stories that disappear into nothingness and there is no follow-up. Voice-Over Community Award winner John Florian did not let the voice casting sites off the hook, and has once again demonstrated that he has the best interest of our community at heart.
I sincerely hope that more of us will back his efforts by turning from silent observers into active participants in the discussion. As voice-over professionals, it is our job to speak up.
