Oh man, great story Bob! I can’t imagine what that would be like, just when you think you’ve nailed it, the cruel CHRRRRRRK of digital static! I agree though, honesty is the best policy and so is expedience. If you try to cover up the loss it will be obvious, if you wait on it you will look even worse.
