Career Advice, General, Getting started in Voiceover, People

At VOICE2010, my friends Dave Courvoisier and Terry Daniel presented a ton of excellent material about social media and voiceover. I missed a large chunk of it because I was doing a voiceover session; but what I saw was superb. One thing I was there for was the announcement of a new website called Social Media VO. I’ve just added that site to my blogroll. I hope you’ll visit often.

Sir Ken Robinson at TED. Brilliant thinking about creativity and education.

That was from 2006. This is his follow-up, from 2010.

What does this have to do with voiceover? If you’ve watched, I think you all ready know the answer.

Free eBook for voiceoverists

Career Advice, General, Getting started in Voiceover

The term “voiceoverist” may or may not be familiar to you. It’s an invention of my friend Philip Banks. However, the real point I’m making here is that my friend Mahmoud Taji has written an excellent eBook for anyone wishing to learn more about working in voiceover in today’s connected world. I think it’s well worth your time to download and read.

Summit registration price goes up a week from today

General

If you’re thinking seriously about attending the 15th Annual International Radio Creative and Production Summit, get your registration in before Midnight on May 31st. The price goes up as of the 1st of June. The Summit has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself and my progress as a voiceover talent. This year will be my 14th straight. I look forward to seeing you there.

Oh, and if you’re going this year for the first time, and you happen to mention in the comment box at the end of the registration form that you’re going because I encouraged you to, Dan O’Day will pay me a commission. Your price is the same no matter what, so if you don’t want me to get a commission, don’t mention me in the comment box. It’s up to you entirely.
